GOCE DELČEV

Goce Delčev (1872–1903) was a teacher, revolutionary organiser and leading figure in the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization during the final years of Ottoman rule in Macedonia. He played an important role in developing the organisation’s network and advocated political autonomy for Macedonia, while opposing an uprising he believed was insufficiently prepared.

Killed in Banica in 1903, Delčev became one of the most prominent figures in Macedonian historical memory.
